Visual Communication

 

  Reflection:  I think the thumbnailing stage of this project was really strong, I came up with loads of ideas and learnt that your first ideas, however much you might like them are usually not your strongest. I so almost went for my second idea but I carried on designing and ended up picking a much later idea.  The end result is playful and you can tell what is trying to be shown, however my perspective could use some work. I like how i have made my character leave the box altogether I think it adds a lot to the playfulness of the piece. Overall, pretty happy with the result.

planning reflection^ At first I came up with a pretty generic idea for this, and then after starting to draw a couple panels i decided I could do better, and started brainstorming more ideas. I'm really glad i remembered that your first idea is never your best. The later ideas were far more interesting and I started to get excited about creating the story. Final reflection:  Overall I'm really pleasantly surprised at the outcome of this project. I think the end result is fun, creative and ive used lots of different mediums which is something I wanted to do. If i was going to do this project again I would have used my time better to spend more time on each panel and make it a bit higher quality, but this may have actually taken away from the final result in some ways. A balance would have been ideal and something to think about next project.  See if you can spot some little things I've added, like the mysterious woman.

  Reflection: I think this was a good exercise, it made me think more about what visual signs can say about a person. I think I could have gone into more detail about each person I observed, as well as the environment. This should come very much in handy for the linked project going forward. I also could have done them full body sketches, but I think I have got the gist of the person regardless.

  Reflection:  This was a really fun project. I am happy with a lot of the ideas I came up with, especially those that broke the boundaries of a standard box, or those that played with the size of the characters. I would have liked to have done more work at a larger scale following on from these designs, better time management would have allowed me to do so and is something I need to work on for future projects.

  Reflection:  I felt like as this project went along I started to feel it a bit more. Instead of trying to fit a brief I began to let go, and once i did the work went in many directions. Some I wasn't a fan of- it was too rigid and unimaginative. Some of the work however really works for me, it give me feelings of age and history, something sinister. I feel that this tree (old oak) has seen many terrible things.
